Arts Inspiration at the Zoo

18 May Arts Inspiration at the Zoo

On Monday of Week 3, two classes of Year 11 Art visited the Auckland Zoo. The purpose of the visit was to collect photographic images from the displays within the six sections of Te Wao Nui Aotearoa New Zealand – Takutai (The Coast), Moutere Rāhui (The Islands), Te Pō (The Night), Nga Repo (The Wetlands), Te Wao Nui a Tāne (The Forest), and Whenua Waotu (The High Country).

An excellent talk by one of the zoo educators led the students through each of these displays. The educator pointed out the water level that the floods reached earlier in the year, and the following day the water almost rose to the same level. Luckily, we went on Monday not Tuesday!
