08 Jul 40 Hour Famine Fundraiser
On 25th of June, Pakuranga College’s Interact team hosted the event ‘Wet the Head Students and House Captains’, which was run with help from the Service Council. Students and teachers were invited to ‘wet’ one of our House Captains or Head Students by throwing a wet sponge at them or dunking them with a bucket of water, in exchange for a small donation.
The reason for the event was to help raise money and awareness for the World Vision 40 Hour Famine, an event in which participants complete a challenge for 40 hours while raising donations. This year, all the money raised will be going towards the growing hunger crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa, which unfortunately worsened due to Covid-19.
It was amazing to see all the students come along and show their support and a total of $611 was raised overall. Mai FM came along to provide the music and the whole experience was extremely enjoyable. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped out!
