History

HOD: Mr M Davison

History is about making sense of the past to address questions that arise in the present. The history courses being
offered at Pakuranga College, place an emphasis on trying to think critically about the past. They also place New
Zealand history within wider global contexts.


Level 1 History (11HIS)

Content is likely to include New Zealand and the world, 1915 to 1945, the struggle for rights in 1950s/60s America,
1970s New Zealand and 1980s/90s South Africa.

Level 2 History (12HIS)

Content will include 1980s New Zealand, Nazi Germany, the Holocaust and the Vietnam War.

Level 3 History 13HIS

Content will include Tudor and Stuart England (1558 - 1667) and 20th century New Zealand.
