• apply leadership and risk management strategies through your performance in tramping
• research the significance of a major adventure sports activity or festival

Prerequisites: students must have achieved a minimum of 11 achievement standard credits in level 1 physical
education: outdoor education or physical education. Entry to this course is at the discretion of the head of
faculty. Physical Education uniform is compulsory.
Course cost: approximately $350 for trips and activities outside of school

Due to the changes currently being made to level 2 standards by NZQA, there may be some minor changes to this course in 2012.


Level 2 Physical Education (12PED)

Prerequisites: students must have achieved a minimum of 11 achievement standard credits in level 1 physical
education: outdoor education or physical education, or 9 credits in level 1 English or at the discretion of the head
of faculty. Physical Education uniform is compulsory.
Course cost: specialist coaching (approximately $25)

Prerequisites: students must have achieved a minimum of 12 credits in level 2 physical education, outdoor
education or physical education or 12 credits in level 2 English. Entry to this course is at the discretion of the head
of faculty. Physical Education uniform is compulsory

You will learn to:
• demonstrate skills in tramping to successfully complete a two-day Pinnacles walk
• plan, perform and evaluate a coaching session for junior students
• understand how people learn new skills and also the most effective way of teaching them
• plan and perform exercise techniques safely in a weights room
• appreciate how the body functions during physical activity

This course leads on from the 12PSL course in level 2. Students who successfully complete all standards in both
courses will also be awarded a Certificate of Achievement in Sport Leadership from Manukau Institute of Technology.

Prerequisites: students must have achieved 12 credits in level 2 physical education, outdoor education or sport
leadership. Entry to this course is at the discretion of the head of faculty. Physical Education uniform is compulsory.
Course cost: cost of 2 day tramp (approximately $75)
