Director of International Students

Full-time, Permanent Position

This exciting position oversees responsibility for the leadership, strategic direction, and marketing of our international student programme, as well as overall responsibility for the pastoral and academic needs of our international students.

Pakuranga College has a well-established and successful international student programme, with a projected 150 FTE students, from a diverse number of countries around the world.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have exceptional people skills including the ability to relate to other staff, students, families, parents and agencies with patience and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate empathy with other cultures.
  • Have excellent writing and organisational skills, including budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Be well versed in the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021, including compliance requirements.
  • Have some familiarity with NCEA.
  • Flexibility to be able to travel internationally for marketing.

Homestay Co-ordinator

Fixed Term – Part Time Position

Pakuranga College is seeking to employ a Homestay Co-ordinator to work in our International Student Department. This is a fixed term, part time position for 20 hours per week and will include working during the evening, weekends and school holidays.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade 3 and the hourly rate will be based on experience.

The position will include tasks such as:

  • Supporting students and their host families
  • Visiting potential homestay host families
  • Meeting reporting requirements of the Code of Practice
  • Compilation of new student profile information
  • Liaising with new students and homestay hosts
  • Providing emergency contact
  • Working from home

The successful applicant will have:

  • The ability to relate to teenagers from all cultures
  • Previous experience with Homestay placement
  • Knowledge of the Code of Practice for International Students and relevant Ministry of Education guidelines
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Full drivers licence and vehicle
  • A can-do attitude
