The following students have absolute right to enrolment at Pakuranga College :
All domestic students of secondary school age up to the age stated in law at which a free education ceases, who live within the home zone defined below :
Students Living Outside the Defined Home Zone
If places are available, the following students may be accepted, with places offered in the following order of priority :
First Priority will be given to students who are enrolled in the Pegasus Unit. This unit offers special programmes that have been approved by the Secretary for Education. The criteria for entry to this unit are set out in the Board of Trustees' Special Education Policy. Initial enquiries should be made to the Senior Manager in charge of the Pegasus Unit.
Second Priority will be given to applicants who have a brother or sister currently enrolled at Pakuranga College.
Third Priority will be given to applicants who have a brother or sister previously enrolled at Pakuranga College. It is the applicant's responsibility to produce for the school evidence of the sibling's former attendance at the school. Such evidence could be a school report.
Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
Fifth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of an employee or board member of the Pakuranga College Board of Trustees.
Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11 G (1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
Applications for out of zone students cannot be accepted after 1 September 2011.
